Dear Members and Friends of Ferguson Christian Church,
The ministerial search committee and the elders would like to recommend a candidate for senior minister of Ferguson Christian Church. After our second interview, the committee and elders unanimously recommend Mr. Kingston Arthur to the congregation.
Kingston graduated from Sikeston High School and graduated as valedictorian from St. Louis Christian College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and Preaching in 2015. While at SLCC, Kingston served as president of the Student Government Association, was president of his class all four years, and served as a member of the discipline committee. He completed an internship in preaching at Harvester Christian Church in 2014, and had numerous other opportunities to preach in area churches.
In our interviews with Kingston we have been impressed with his thoughtful answers and intelligence. There was initially some concern about his age (23), but as we talked it became apparent that he possessed wisdom well beyond his years. We have received glowing recommendations from Guthry Veech, president of SLCC; Mike Pabarcus, who had Kingston as a student; Eddy Sanders, Academic Dean & Professor of Preaching at SLCC; and Stacy Garner, who also had Kingston as a student. Larry Doggett also had Kingston in his class at SLCC and was impressed with his maturity and communication skills. Copies of recommendation letters and resume are available, if you would like to read them.
The committee has also had the opportunity to meet Kingston’s wife, Krystal, and their young son, Zion. Krystal is a lovely and intelligent young woman who is very supportive of Kingston’s plans to be a minister. She was one of several students, along with Alex Crump, who went to south Africa on a mission trip with Stacy. He praised her godliness and servant attitude. She loves children and could also be a valuable asset to our church as she becomes involved in ministry.
We have invited Kingston and his family to meet the congregation on Sunday, September 6th. Kingston will deliver the sermon, and we will have a picnic lunch following the service to provide an opportunity for you to talk with them and get acquainted. Grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks will be provided; we are asking those who are staying to bring side dishes, salads, or desserts.
The following Sunday, September 13th, we will have a congregational meeting where members will be asked to vote for or against calling Kingston as our senior minister. We ask you to pray about this process, and ask for God’s leading as we make this important decision.
In Christian love,
Members of the Ministerial Search Team & Elders
